BLINDED?!?

BLINDED?!?

THE BEACH WAS THEIR FAVOURITE SPOT...
A long stroll holding hands as gentle waves hit the sea shore with the bright full moon luminating the beach, made most of our nights. Suddenly she'd bend down, mold wet sand balls and hit his bear hairy chest jiggling while biting her lower lip. Grabbing her by the waist, lifting her up the skies as shore winds blew her long wavy blonde hair. The inviting smile on her face would sub-consciously make him kiss her forehead bringing her down to her feet and hug her tightly. Out of nowhere they'd race on the vast beach relentlessly letting her run faster and just before she'd be far gone he'd spear dive her into the wintry water of the ocean. Making her cling on him solid with their faces millimeters away moving her eyes rapidly sides. He looked straight into her eyes and she'd managed a smile on her chilly face.
"F@ck! I miss it, arrrgh!" I cursed loudly letting a heavy breath out, however, I can’t remember when I inhaled. Everything happens for a reason, I kept convincing myself but the solemn reason for her leaving is the toughest crossword in my life. With clues left right and center none seems to solve the mystery. I can’t overrule that I was probably experiencing dark moments in my life if not the darkest.
Watching the sunset seated alone on the beach the same spot, lost in memoirs.

MULTIMEDIA SECRETARY GENERAL LAID TO REST.

MULTIMEDIA SECRETARY GENERAL LAID TO REST.

Last week, we comrades laid one of us to rest in a dignified ceremony. Mr Ronald Kiprono Kirui, the secretary general of the Multimedia University, commonly known by his nickname Yusuf, was entombed on the grounds of Merigi High School. Many as the the area MCA, former Bomet Woman Representative Cecilia Ng’etich, Kenyatta University Students Organisation (KUSO) president, KUSO leaders, university student leaders and students from across the nation were in attendance.

The general, was involved in a grisly road accident as they were traveling from Nakuru to Rongai together with two others along Nairobi Southern Bypass when their car lost control and veered off the road.  According to survivors he was seated at the back and was thrown out of the car making him sustain head injuries and succumbed.
His friends described him as a visionary student leader who was vocal in presenting comrades interest and served them tirelessly. He was keen on fighting for reforms. We lost a good soul. May his soul rest in peace.

HOPE FOR FUTURE STUDENT LEADERS.

HOPE FOR FUTURE STUDENT LEADERS.

"The Universities Amendment Act 2016 which was signed into Law by the president of the Republic of Kenya, was meant to change the students' leadership structures as well as the electoral systems. However, I want to confess that in as much as the reasons for coming up with this bill was purely correctional, it was politically motivated. At the point of its legislation, a lot of political intrigues were factored in,given the volatile political environment we were at the moment. We have had several meetings with a range of stakeholders including students' leaders to deliberate on a raft of issues surrounding the new law. At this point in time, I can say without equivocation that this law is destined to bring more divisions in our universities than harmony and peace.I am also aware that only 6 institutions of higher learning have effected the law amid difficulties and misunderstanding amongst the students fraternity and the administrations. For instance, the University of Nairobi Senate, is yet to determine the date of the election due to the fear of the unknown. There is uncertainty on what is likely to happen in the event such elections are held. There is a host of students who are sharply opposed to the new electoral system and are ready to cause mayhem during the polls. Which is why,as the sponsor of the bill, given my position as the Leader of Majority, I'm at liberty to bring this matter to the attention of the honourable members in order to adress it to its logical conclusion. I therefore advise the Vice Chancellors of various universities to stop any election until this issue is handled satisfactorily." A legislator confessed.

First-Year Student with Fine Art Skills

First-Year Student with Fine Art Skills

Her first portrait

When I first saw the work of student artist Sharon Mukami Njue, it took a while for me to realize that they were, in fact, pencil drawings. She does hyper-realistic graphite pencil art.

You’d also be forgiven for thinking the images in this article are photographs given a shade of black-and-white filter. She has an understanding of the dynamics of shade and light and translating them into powerfully detailed pencil work.

The soft-spoken 18-year-old first-year Biostatistics student at JKUAT conducts herself in a professional manner with her client’s best interests at a top priority.
Got a chance to fix a meeting in her busy schedule and this is what she had to say

Describe your journey as an artist
Artistic talent seems to run in the blood. I started cartooning from an early age with the help of my dad who used to help me draw animal and furniture sketches. Ever since I developed a strong artistic tendency. After high school, I had the itch to draw portraits and saw the need to perfect my fine art skill. Came across Sketch master, an art school in Kasarani where I found what I was looking for. Been privileged to have a number of clients, people who believe in my art. Can’t say it has been smooth all the way, each portrait comes with its own challenges and lessons. Am still growing in the field. It takes hours of practice to become an expert.

How do you balance school work and art?
I joined campus the other day and so far so good. I know where my priorities are. There is no doubt there are times I have to choose between the two. Weekends are no longer lazy days for me, which is when I spend most of the time drawing.

Do you only do pencil work?
No. Currently, most of my portraits are done in pencil. Still growing in painting field.

What fires you up and keeps you going?
Honestly, I have been fortunate to have people around me who will stop at nothing to make a positive difference in my art. My parents have shown their love, support and hard work to push and nurture me.
I want to experience my dreams and goals to the fullest. It is a lifelong passion that must be exercised.

Any word to your peers?
Feel the power that comes from focusing on what excites you. I strongly believe tenacity is the key. Confront the challenges head-on with determination and persistence. There are no shortcuts and it is always required to put your time in. View your work in the larger picture of your career and take it as an opportunity to be ambitious and push boundaries.

How can people reach you?

Another student leader dead

Another student leader dead

Earlier yesterday Kisii University woke to the sad news of the loss of their former Student President Mr. Moffat Migiro.

Preliminary reports indicate that Moffat was in church with his family yesterday. He later passed at Sakawa with his family and bought chips for their baby. They left for the house. He fell sick as his wife called a friend to assist her take him to hospital. He was then taken to Christa Marianne hospital. All diagnostic tests showed nothing but he grew weaker. He later passed on.

He will be remembered for his profound leadership, his great ambitions and his good relationship that he still held high not even letting power overcome him in his term as KUSU President.

Laikipia University Burns

Laikipia University Burns

Laikipia university fire which broke on March 11,2018 at 2040 hours affected the examination office and a section of the  Co-operative bank in the school. University students had just completed their exams before the fire broke out.

The fire broke a day after Kabianga University hostels too burned, famously known 'hostel six'. Fire was spotted in one of the rooms, fire fighters managed to sparkle off the fire before it did reach the third floor of the storey building which holds a capacity of atleast 2500 people.

The cause of the fire still remains uknown but raises concerns not only to the comrades but also to the public on the increasing cases of fire outrage in the uni
